Palo Santo – Holy Wood

Palo Santo has been highly prized for centuries, primarily for the belief in healing & cleansing properties. Used by Shaman,

Tribal Leaders & Healers the world over, this beautiful wood writes its own legends.

Palo Santo translates as “Holy Wood” or “The Tree of Life”, so it’s little wonder it attracts so much attention from the enlightened.

South American Healers believe Palo Santo has a strong spirit, which must be respectfully treated,

believing that the spirit of the wood continues to live on, long after a tree has fallen naturally, and in doing so,

Palo Santo will help restore both physical and energetic wellbeing,

including:

Cleansing & Purifying                                      Stress Relief

Grounding & Centring                                    Mood Improvement

Boosting Immunity                                       Reducing Muscle Pain

Clearing Negative Energy                              Recharging Energy

Stimulating Circulation

Palo Santo is often found in the form of incense or smudging sticks, but we wanted to create a more permanent

and lasting connection to this mystical, and beautiful wood, and AURA JEWELLERY was born.

Every piece of AURA Jewellery is lovingly hand-made in our Staffordshire workshop,

crafted from sustainably sourced, and fully licenced Palo Santo.

Our range incorporates pure Palo Santo pendants, through to those fusing Palo Santo with other exotic hardwoods,

and each pendant is unique, having been designed, cut, and finished entirely by hand.

Other Woods We Use

 Snake Wood

Snakewood is an incredibly dense hardwood which is found in coastal regions of Northeast South America.

Famed for the snake-like appearance of its heartwood, Snakewood is typically found as a red-brown colour, with rippled patterns, closely resembling snakeskin.

Considered to be amongst the most expensive hardwoods in the world, Snakewood provides the perfect medium for jewellery making, polishing to an incredibly high lustre.

Thuya Burr

Thuya Burr is an exotic soft wood which is native to the Atlas Mountains.

The name is derived from the Greek word for Sacrifice (Thuya). The Ancient Greeks would extract and distil oil from the wood to use as incense in religious ceremonies.

Thuya Burr has beautifully intricate patterns throughout its rich brown colouring, and the smell of the wood is truly incredible, with Cedar-like tones.

Ebony

Often found with jet-black heartwood, Gabon Ebony grows in Equatorial West Africa, and is primarily sourced from Cameroon.

Being one of the densest hardwoods in the world, Gabon Ebony has an almost slate-like appearance and polishes to an incredible finish, making it the perfect partner to Palo Santo.

Cocobolo

Cocobolo is a South American hardwood, which offers a kaleidoscope of colours, from reds and purples to vibrant yellows.

Cocobolo is ranked in the top 10 most expensive woods in the world, is incredibly dense and provides a stunning contrast to Palo Santo.
